Running Man officially introduced its new production director following the departure of PD Kang Hyung Seon.
On May 26, SBS confirmed to local media outlet TV Daily that producer Kim Solmaro has been selected as Running Man’s new main PD.
Kim Solmaro previously worked alongside PD Choi Bo Pil on the SBS variety show Whenever Could, where she attracted attention for her directing skills and creative production style.
Before joining Running Man, Kim gained experience through several SBS programs with completely different concepts, including All The Butlers, The Fan, People’s Intervention Trial and Whenever possible.
He also recently collaborated with Yoo Jae Suk through Whenever possible, making his transition into Running Man especially meaningful for viewers.
The news comes shortly after PD Kang Hyung Seon officially bid farewell to the show during the May 24 broadcast. During the episode, Yoo Jae Suk personally informed viewers, saying, “Today is PD Kang Hyung Seon’s last day. He will be leaving to prepare for giving birth.”

Fans have since shared mixed emotions online, expressing sadness over PD Kang’s departure while also showing curiosity and anticipation for the direction Kim Solmaro will take the iconic variety series.
Meanwhile, Running Man recently passed the 800th episode milestone last month, further cementing its status as one of SBS’s most successful and longest-running entertainment programmes.
