BTS denounces excessive hotel prices ahead of Busan concert

On May 26, BTS held a live broadcast following their appearance at the American Music Awards in Las Vegas, where they celebrated their most important victories and communicated with fans from around the world.

During the livestream, the group also shared honest thoughts about the news of skyrocketing housing prices linked to their upcoming one BTS “ARIRANG” World Tour concerts, scheduled for 12 and 13 June at the Busan Asiad Main Stadium.

The RM leader addressed the issue directly, saying: “There was too much news about housing prices before the Busan concerts. I really wish people wouldn’t do that.”

Member Jimin also expressed disappointment, noting that the concerts should be remembered as a joyous occasion for fans visiting the city.

RM further commented: “You have to think long term about these things.”

Meanwhile, Suga added that Busan has recently become an increasingly popular tourist destination, while RM described the city as “hip” AND “like the Miami of Korea”.

Being original members of Busan, both Jimin and Jungkook looked particularly saddened by the situation.

Jimin said: “I really hoped that people visiting Busan would leave with only good memories. Of course money matters, but this is just too much.”

Jungkook also reacted harshly, saying: “That’s enough. You shouldn’t do this.”

RM acknowledged the group’s frustration, explaining that there is little BTS can personally do to solve the problem despite wanting to help. “Price differences between high season and low season may happen, but seriously, let’s keep it reasonable.”

Recently, fans online shared reports that hotel rooms in Busan that normally cost around KRW 50,000 increased to as much as KRW 3 million during the concert period.

Some visitors also said reservations made months in advance were suddenly cancelled.

In response to the controversy, local authorities in Busan reportedly began monitoring excessive pricing practices. Meanwhile, the Korean Buddhist Cultural Corps announced plans to temporarily open temple accommodation in the Busan and Gyeongnam regions to help visitors.

Despite these efforts, many fans continue to express frustration online over the ongoing housing situation ahead of BTS’ highly anticipated concerts.
