Former LOONA member Hyunjin leaves LATENCY just 2 months after their third debut due to health problems

On May 22, LATENCY’s agency Ordinary Records announced through the group’s official fan platform that Hyunjin would end his activities with the band due to health reasons. The agency also confirmed that its exclusive contract has been terminated.

According to the statement, Hyunjin recently had in-depth discussions with the company about his future activities after experiencing health problems. After respecting the artist’s opinion, both parties agreed to terminate the contract.

The ordinary records stated, “As this was a carefully made decision after adequate mutual discussion between the parties, we sincerely request that people refrain from spreading unconfirmed speculation or misunderstanding.” The agency also apologized to fans for the sudden news, adding that LATENCY will continue to work hard to repay fans with better performances in the future.

Hyunjin shares an emotional handwritten letter

Hyunjin also personally addressed fans via a handwritten letter on the fan platform. He wrote, “I have always wanted to show only the positive sides of me on stage, so I feel very heavy to say goodbye to you through a letter like this.” He continued, “After a long period of reflection, I have recently decided to end my activities with LATENCY and also terminate my exclusivity contract.”

Hyunjin explained that continuing activities had become physically difficult for her, saying: “As I continued my activities, I was very exhausted and had a lot of difficulties health-wise. I decided I needed some time to take care of myself.”

She also apologized to fans, saying the decision wasn’t easy and that she felt sorry for those who supported her. Despite the difficult announcement, Hyunjin expressed gratitude to fans for sticking with her. “Thank you sincerely for believing in me, for supporting me and for being with me every moment until now. Thanks to the fans, I have been able to have happy memories,” he wrote. He concluded by asking fans to continue supporting the members of LATENCY and promised to work to recover his health.

A painful ending after his third debut

Hyunjin first debuted in 2018 as a member of LOONA. However, after a dispute over the exclusive contract in 2023, the group went through a difficult period and actually headed towards dissolution. In 2024, he started over by debuting with Loossemble again, but the group also faced changes after their contract with the agency ended that same year.

LATENCY marked Hyunjin’s third debut and was expected to be a new chapter in his career. However, only about 2 months after officially debuting with the band, he is now leaving again due to worsening health.

The sudden news left fans heartbroken, especially since Hyunjin had already gone through multiple difficult transitions in his career. However, many are now sending messages of support, hoping that one day he will be able to rest, recover and return to a healthier state.
