Three dramas with rural settings are currently meeting audiences: Damn your life, Sold out for youAND Blue spring. While each story has a different tone, all three focus on characters who find themselves closer to nature than the noisy city.
Damn your life
In KBS2 Damn your lifePark Sung-woong plays Sung Tae-hoon, a business manager who is suddenly transferred to the rural village of Yeonriri. Stranded in the countryside after an unfair staff move, he struggles to return to Seoul but gradually experiences village life with his family.
The drama follows his wife Jo Mi-ryeo, played by Lee Soo-kyung, and their three children as they adapt to a new environment full of stubborn locals, unexpected emotions and small moments of warmth. The series is described as a healing family drama about rediscovering the meaning of family and human connection. However, the ratings were disappointing. Damn your life it started with 2.7% on March 26 but dropped to 1.6% in episode 8 on May 14, according to Nielsen Korea. The 12-episode drama airs every Thursday at 9.50pm.
Sold out for you

SBS Sold out for you brings romance to the countryside. Ahn Hyo-seop plays Matthew Lee, a perfectionist farmer who owns 10,000 pyeong land and a mushroom farm in Deokpung Village. Chae Won-bin plays Dam Ye-jin, a workaholic home shopping guest who needs Matthew’s rare white-flowered nuri mushrooms.
As Ye-jin repeatedly visits Deokpung Village, she bonds not only with Matthew but also with the local residents. The drama mixes rural life, business and unpredictable romance. The series has gained attention as Ahn Hyo-seop’s next project after voicing Jinu in the Netflix animated film KPop Demon Hunters. It started with ratings of 3.3%, but spent several weeks in the 2% range before falling back to 3.1% with episode 9 on May 20. The 12-episode drama airs every Wednesday and Thursday at 9pm.
Blue spring

Meanwhile, MBN Plus Blue spring takes spectators to the sea. Starring Red Velvet’s Kim Ye-rim, also known as Yeri, and Kang Sang-joon, the drama tells the story of Seo Anna and Yoon Deok-hyun in the coastal village of Parangri. Anna is a former swimmer whose dream was destroyed by injury, while Deok-hyun is a former member of the special forces who lives as a diver after being surrounded by rumors.
Based on a webtoon of the same name, Blue spring combines the words “azzurro,” meaning blue, and “spring,” symbolizing youth. The drama follows two wounded young people as they become haenyeo and haenam, finding comfort and growth across the sea. The series was filmed on the main islands of Tongyeong, giving the drama a fresh coastal feel. Blue spring premiered on May 11 and has 6 episodes, airing every Monday and Tuesday at 11pm.
From cabbage fields to mushroom farms and deep blue waters, these dramas show that the K-dramas of 2026 aren’t just chasing big-city romance or office conflict. They are instead turning to rural spaces for healing, growth and quieter emotional stories.
