On May 21, JYP Entertainment announced via official SNS that Seungmin had been in the hospital in March after feeling pain in his left ankle. Upon further examination, he was diagnosed with a stress fracture in his left ankle. The agency explained that Seungmin is currently minimizing flights and long trips to focus on full recovery.
As a result, Stray Kids will perform at the Governors Ball Music Festival in the United States on June 6 local time as a 7-member lineup without Seungmin. The group is expected to appear as headliners at the festival.
The news has fans worried, especially as more and more idols have recently suspended or missed activities due to health issues. LE SSERAFIM’s Kim Chaewon previously temporarily stopped activities due to neck pain, while fromis\9’s Lee Chaeyoung was also unable to perform at a university festival after suffering from stomach cramps and dehydration.
With music shows, overseas programs and the college festival season continuing, fans are expressing growing concern about idols’ physical condition. Seungmin’s absence is another reminder of how intense idol schedules can get, especially when performers are expected to balance performing, traveling and catching up at the same time.
