On May 2, a video titled “Princess Take Steps | Kep1er Ballet Lesson” was uploaded to the group’s official YouTube channel. The clip showed members Xiaoting, Choi Yujin and Kim Chaehyun learning ballet.
The controversy centered on Kim Chaehyun’s outfit. Unlike the other members’ ballet attire, hers featured a plunging neckline that emphasized exposure. As she performed stretching exercises and ballet moves, some angles highlighted the revealing design, leading some fans to raise concerns.
Fans have expressed dissatisfaction, with comments like “The style is crazy” AND “Why make her wear something like that knowing it could be sexualized?” Some even called for the video to be edited or removed entirely.
As the debate intensified, Kim Chaehyun addressed the situation directly through a fan communication platform. He explained, “That dress was my choice” adding that she wanted to wear something cute, as ballet is often associated with a soft pink and elegant image. He also admitted, “I thought people would like it, so I was surprised by the unexpected reactions.”
While acknowledging fans’ concerns, he added, “I understand why fans are worried, but I also want to wear nice clothes. I will try to find a better balance in the future, so please don’t be too upset.” His response helped ease tensions as he reassured fans of his awareness and willingness to adapt moving forward.
