CIX’s Seunghun says goodbye to idol life and announces a new chapter off stage

Before debuting with CIX, Seunghun spent years as a trainee at YG Entertainment and Cube Entertainment, enduring nearly a decade of preparation before finally debuting. As the group’s lead singer, he also gained recognition by winning Mnet’s Build Up: Vocal Boy Group Survival in 2024, later promoting himself with project group BDU

On April 29, Seunghun posted a heartfelt message on his Instagram, starting with, “To FIX (fan), it’s already been seven years. I really didn’t know anything at first, I was just happy to debut. But now I can’t believe I spent so much time with you.”

Reflecting on his journey, he humbly shared, “Looking back, I feel like I was lacking in many ways. I made mistakes and didn’t always meet expectations, but thanks to FIX who believed in me, supported me, and told me I was okay, I was able to grow little by little. The person I am today was created by you.”

He went on to address fans in a more personal way, saying that communicating with them has always been one of his greatest sources of happiness. However, he admitted that over time he lost some emotional space and found it difficult to connect as he once did. “If I disappointed those who were waiting for me, I’m truly sorry. It wasn’t because my feelings for you faded, I just didn’t have the strength at the time,” he confessed.

After much thought, Seunghun revealed an important life decision: “I’ve decided to put aside the title of ‘singer’ for now and try to live a new life as an individual off stage. It wasn’t an easy choice, but I think it’s something I really need right now.” He added that although embarking on a new path seems unfamiliar and even scary to him, he intends to seriously continue living in his own way.

He also expressed gratitude to his fellow members, saying, “To BX, Yonghee and Hyunsuk, who have walked this journey with me for seven years, thank you. In both good times and difficult times, I have been able to endure thanks to you. I have truly been a happy Seunghun of CIX.”

On the same day, CIX’s agency C9 Entertainment released an official statement confirming that the group will cease operations approximately seven years after their debut in July 2019. The agency announced that BX and Seunghun’s exclusive contracts will end on April 30.

They also shared updates on the other members: Yonghee has applied for military enlistment and will begin basic training on May 11 before serving as an active duty soldier. In the meantime, Hyunsuk will focus on his ongoing drama project, with his contract expiring on May 31.

CIX, originally formed by C9 Entertainment and led by the former Bae Jinyoung, debuted in 2019 and has been active for about seven years. Bae Jinyoung previously left the group in August 2024 after his contract expired.

As the members prepare to move forward on their separate paths, fans can now reflect on the group’s journey and offer support for their future endeavors.
