Kim Jong Kook has once again proven why he is known as one of Korea’s most frugal celebrities, but this time with a surprising twist.
Through his YouTube channel YOUNG GYM COOKKim Jong Kook has revealed the process of transforming his old Mercedes-Benz G-Class into what looks like a brand new car.
Instead of selling it despite an estimated resale value of around KRW 70 million, he opted for a complete overhaul, which includes:
- An elegant silver exterior
- Deep cleaning and complete restoration of the interior
- Detailed repairs down to worn wheel logos
The result? A dramatic one “like new” transformation that left even Kim visibly amazed.
When he finally saw the finished vehicle, Kim Jong Kook couldn’t hide his excitement. “Wow, this is incredible… it really feels like a new car,” he exclaimed, repeatedly expressing satisfaction with the result.
According to the tuning shop, the project required double the usual time and materialshighlighting the level of care invested in the restoration.
Although Kim Jong Kook is famous for his cost-conscious lifestyle, this decision revealed another side of him. He also declared his intention to drive the car for another 10 years, reinforcing his philosophy of making the most of what he has.
