Jeon Somi is officially entering Hollywood.
During his appearance on Radio starthe singer revealed she has been cast in a leading role in an upcoming Hollywood film, marking her first major acting project on the global stage.
Somi said she received the audition offer while promoting her songs “CLOSER” and “EXTRA.” After successfully passing the audition, she traveled to Thailand in October last year.
“I was chosen and went to Thailand to shoot for about two months,” he said, confirming that production has already ended.
The film, titled Perfect girlis described as a psychological thriller set within the K-pop idol selection process.
When asked about his role, Somi hinted at its significance: “I’m in the top three” he said, implying a main character central to the plot.

The project features a diverse international lineup, including:

- Adeline Rodolfo
Arden Cho previously shared that Somi was personally invited to audition, explaining: “Casting only Asian-American actors wouldn’t fully capture K-pop culture, so we wanted someone authentic. Somi auditioned perfectly.”
The film is directed by Hong Won Ki and produced by Badlands and Thunder Road Films.
Somi, known for her unique background as the daughter of a Dutch-Canadian father and a Korean mother, has built a strong identity in the K-pop industry. His move into acting reflects a growing trend for idols to branch out into global entertainment markets.
His father, Matthew Douma, also appeared in the K-drama Descendants of the sunadding an interesting link to his acting journey.
According to Somi, Perfect girl is currently in post-production and is expected to be released later this year or early next year.
With her global popularity and the film’s unique K-pop-themed plot, anticipation is already building for what could be a significant crossover moment in her career.
