According to BigHit Music, on April 28, El Paso County commissioners presented BTS with the prestigious “Dear friend” prize on April 27 (local time).
The award recognizes the group’s contributions to promoting tourism, increasing community pride and elevating El Paso as a leading global entertainment destination.
In addition to the award, El Paso County passed a resolution declaring May 2 and 3—BTS concert dates—as “BTS weekend in El Paso.”
This rare honor highlights not only the group’s cultural influence but also the anticipation surrounding their performances in the region.
Officials also praised BTS for the meaningful social messages incorporated into their music, as well as their positive global impact.
BTS’s influence extends far beyond music. Brooke Underwood, an official with El Paso’s tourism agency, predicted the two-day concert will generate about $75 million in economic impact for the local community.
This includes increasing tourism, hotel bookings, local business revenue and the city’s overall exposure.
BTS recently kicked off their own “BTS ‘Arirang’ World Tour in North America” at Raymond James Stadium, successfully completing three shows in Tampa.
Next, they will perform at Sun Bowl Stadium, marking a historic milestone by being the first Korean group to hold a solo concert at that venue.
