K-pop group BIGBANG is attracting major attention as it celebrates its 20th debut anniversary with a series of large-scale projects, including a Coachella performances, a world tour and the release of a new album. In addition to these announcements, the group has launched official social media accounts, marking the beginning of a real return to the scene. In particular, the group’s decision to follow former TOP member sparked widespread speculation.
On April 21st, BIGBANG simultaneously opened their official community on global fandom platform b.stage and SNS channels at 8:19 pm sharp to symbolize their debut date (August 19th). The initiative was reportedly heavily driven by the members themselves. YG Entertainment, which is overseeing the group’s 20th anniversary project, said the new channels aim to bring BIGBANG closer to fans under their group’s iconic name.
What caught fans’ attention the most was the following account listing. In addition to YG Entertainment and members G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung, the official account also followed TOP, despite his previous statement about leaving the group.
Earlier this month, TOP released its first full-length album Another Dimension, in which it openly references BIGBANG, seemingly confirming a “complete separation”. The album included lyrics addressing his past controversies, such as accusations of marijuana use, distancing himself from BIGBANG’s legacy, and even hints of retirement. Tracks like OVAYA (A SMALL, DIRTY SHOWCASE) contained lines interpreted as if he left the group’s shared history behind to pursue his own path.
However, BIGBANG’s decision to follow TOP has reignited speculation. While some see it as a simple gestureothers believe this suggests that ties between members may not be entirely severed behind the scenes. This led to renewed hopes among fans for a potential four-member reunion.
On the other hand, some interpret the move as a sign of respect towards a former member rather than a hint of reconciliation. Given TOP’s strong statements about leaving the group, many believe a reunion would face significant practical and emotional barriers. There are also fears that such ambiguous signals could raise false hopes among fans.

Adding fuel to the speculation, during their performances at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival On April 12 and 19, BIGBANG performed their song Still Life while keeping TOP’s recorded vocals intact. At that moment, G-Dragon even looked up and waved, further arousing emotions among fans.
As BIGBANG marks two decades in the industry, all eyes are on the message they intended to convey through this SNS move and whether it signals a new chapter or simply a nostalgic nod to their past.
