On the April 18 broadcast of the JTBC variety show Getting to know the brothers (Episode 525), members of the opera’s cast Hongdo– including Ye Ji Won, Jung Bo Suk and Park Ha Sun – appeared together with special transfer student Kim Shin Young.
During the show, Park Ha Sun opened up about having been bullied in the past, recalling her appearance on the program The Golden Bell Challenge during his senior year of high school. He said, “I guess I was really cute then. The writers asked me to act cute like announcer Kim Bo Min, and so I did. After that, the reaction was so intense that you could even hear the students swearing at me.”
He continued, “Since it was an all-girls school, there were a lot of senior students who intimidated me. If I got on the bus, they would swear at me, and even while I was walking, they would open the bus door just to yell at me. It was really scary.” When the cast asked her what she had done, she explained that she had simply followed instructions to act nice.
He added, “Maybe it bothered them. I only said one line: They told me to do it,” expressing his frustration. “I didn’t even have any money, but I took taxis everywhere because I was scared, and then I was criticized for even taking taxis,” he said, arousing sympathy.
