According to a survey conducted by Star News in collaboration with research agency Gallup Korea from August 19 to 23, which involved 1,052 men and women aged 19 to 69 across the country, BTS (RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, Jungkook) ranked first with 74% of the votes in the question “Who is the most loved K-pop boy group (debuting in the 21st century)?” (with 2 multiple-choice answers).
BTS has firmly established their place as the nation’s most beloved boy group. They are a global K-pop sensation, dominating music charts both domestically and internationally. Their albums regularly top the charts, and in 2021, they became the first Asian artist to win Artist of the Year at the American Music Awards, further proving their global popularity.
Each of the 7 members of BTS has a distinct personality. Both together as a group and through their impressive solo activities, BTS continues to show their immense influence. Even though most of the members are currently serving in the military, the group’s content continues to generate buzz, fueling anticipation for their return as a full group.
The survey results reflect BTS’s overwhelming popularity, with the group receiving more than double the support of the second-place group. Their popularity was equally strong among both men and women (74 percent each) and across all age groups: 19-29 (67 percent), 30 (66 percent), 40 (76 percent), 50 (83 percent), and 60 (74 percent).
BIGBANG took second place with 33% of the vote, despite not releasing any new music since their 2022 track “Still Life (Spring Summer Fall Winter).” This suggests that their positive image and long-standing legacy remain strong.
In third place were Super Junior with 15%, followed by TVXQ (14%), EXO (13%), SEVENTEEN (8%), SHINee (7%), 2PM (5%), NCT (4%), and Wanna One (4%).
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK and Girls’ Generation tied for “Most Loved Girl Group of the 21st Century,” followed by NewJeans in third place.
