Byeon Woo-seok Flooded With Love Calls Despite Controversy, ‘The Competition Is Intense’

After rising to global prominence through tvN’s Monday-Tuesday drama “Lovely Runner” after 8 years in the industry, Byeon is now the first choice for casting offers. Despite the deluge of love calls, he is taking cautious measures, with no official decision on his next project yet. Instead of rushing into his next work, he is focusing on interacting with his international fans, attending various events, and appearing in commercials, gradually preparing for his next steps.

Byeon Woo-seok previously appeared on tvN’s “You Quiz on the Block,” where he shared that after the “Lovely Runner” phenomenon, he is receiving 10 to 20 times more scripts across all genres than before.

An entertainment insider observed: “There are scripts that are offered to Byeon Woo-seok even if the character’s age doesn’t match his. If he accepts, they are willing to lower the character’s age. Byeon Woo-seok’s casting guarantees airtime, so the competition to cast him is intense in this demanding programming environment.”

However, to secure Byeon Woo-seok for a project, it must be in line with his criteria. In a recent interview after the conclusion of “Lovely Runner,” the actor said, “I I want to improve my acting. I may never feel like I’m really good at it, and I’ll probably continue to see my flaws. But I want to be an actor who can give performances that I’m happy with and that resonate with others.”

He stressed the importance of working with directors he trusts, which is expected to be a key factor in his choice of next project.

A source inside the production company added: “It seems that Byeon Woo-seok is looking for a director who can help him address his weaknesses through his direction. I wouldn’t be surprised if one of the best directors takes on his next project.”

On the other hand, Byeon Woo-seok recently made a special appearance in the tvN x TVING drama “No Gain No Love” as a cold and expressionless part-time worker, much to the delight of fans. This cameo was in support of director Kim Jung-sik, with whom he had built a relationship during “Strong Girl Nam-soon.”

For the rest of the year, the actor will focus more on outside activities, including his fan meeting tour in Asia, rather than acting.

Meanwhile, Byeon Woo-seok had already been criticized for taking excessive security measures, but it seems he has completely moved on from this controversy.
