South Korean actress Nana, a former member of After School, is once again the center of public attention as new developments emerge in the ongoing home invasion case involving her and her mother.
Despite repeatedly expressing their refusal to appear in court, both Nana and her mother have been officially called as witnesses for the upcoming hearing in April, raising the possibility of further delays in the trial.
The case is being handled by the Namyangju branch of the Uijeongbu District Court, which held the second hearing on March 24 for a man in his 30s identified as “A”, accused of robbery and causing injury. While the defendant and his legal team were present, Nana and his mother were not present, only their legal representatives were present in court.
Previously, Nana’s mother had formally submitted a non-participation declaration in February, followed by a further explanation earlier this month. Nana herself also submitted a written opinion in support of the request, making it clear that they both wished to avoid facing the suspect in court.
However, the court set the next hearing for April 21 and issued an official summons for both women as witnesses. The decision is understood to be part of efforts to verify the key facts of the case, although their continued refusal to attend could complicate the proceedings.
The incident dates back to November 15, 2025, when the suspect allegedly broke into Nana’s residence in Guri, armed with a weapon, and attempted to extort money by threatening Nana and her mother. The two reportedly managed to stop him after a physical confrontation and alerted the police.
Investigations later revealed that the suspect had targeted the upscale residential area due to financial difficulties. He has since been arrested and charged.
Surprisingly, the suspect filed a counter-affidavit accusing Nana of attempted murder, but the authorities rejected the request, judging his actions to be self-defense.

During previous hearings, the suspect had admitted trespassing but denied intending to commit robbery, claiming he had entered the house for theft and was unarmed. He also claimed he was assaulted by Nana during the confrontation, claims which have been strongly disputed.
Nana’s agency, Sublime, issued a strong statement condemning the suspect’s actions, noting that “the victims suffered a serious crime involving an armed intruder” and criticizing what they described as continued false claims and secondary harm against the actress.
The agency also confirmed that legal action over false allegations is now underway, stressing that there will be no compromise in protecting the rights and safety of victims.
In a recent appearance on a YouTube show, Nana briefly reflected on the issue, saying, “It all happened so fast… it was a life or death moment. I acted on instinct.” He also cleared up rumors about his martial arts skills, explaining that he had no formal training and reacted purely out of urgency to protect his mother.
As the April hearing approaches, attention turns to whether Nana and her mother will comply with the court’s request or whether their extended absence could prolong an already complex case.
