Album sales are often seen as a key indicator of a K-pop group’s popularity. While strong sales can solidify a group’s position in the industry, sudden drops tend to raise questions about shifting public interest, promotional strategies or deeper controversies.

From the promising debut to the peak of sales

EVERGLOW debuted in 2019 under Yuehua Entertainment as a six-member group. Their debut track “Good good chocolate” made an impressive entry at No. 5 on Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart, establishing them as one of the most promising fourth generation artists of the era.

Their first single album recorded approximately 3,800 sales in its first week. Over time, these numbers steadily increased, peaking with the release of Last melodywhich exceeded 32,000 copies in the first week, marking the highest milestone. Although subsequent releases did not reach that peak, they maintained relatively stable sales figures without drastic drops.

Lineup changes and a challenging return

In 2025, it was announced that all members would leave Yuehua Entertainment. Four members later re-signed with a new agency and continued activities as EVERGLOW. The restructured lineup recently returned with “Code,” the title track of their album of the same name.

However, first day sales data for Code painted a worrying picture. On March 3, the album had sold 473 copies – a sharp decline from the previous release’s first-day sales of 5,928 and significantly lower than its career peak.

Fans and observers have cited several possible reasons for the downturn. Some highlighted the limited promotional activities associated with returning and moving to a new agency. Others have suggested that public sentiment changed after the group performed in Moscow in November 2025 and later announced a Russian tour, sparking differing opinions online.

The situation has sparked mixed reactions on social media. While loyal fans continue to show support and urge patience during this transition period, critics say the numbers may reflect waning interest.
