BTS’ agency has firmly denied rumors that the group’s upcoming comeback performance at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul would be shortened due to restrictions imposed by the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
On February 28, HYBE clarified that reports suggested that the city of Seoul had limited the concert to just one hour “It is not true”. The statement came later Speculation has spread online that administrative rules would have forced the duration of the event to be shortened.
HYBE stressed that the duration of the performance was decided internally by the company and BigHit Music. According to the agency, Multiple factors were carefully considered, including the nature of the venue as an outdoor public space, public safety, on-site crowd control, convenience of public transport and potential late-night noise issues.
BTS is scheduled to be held “BTS Comeback Live: Arirang” on March 21 at 8pm in the area surrounding Gwanghwamun Square. During the event, the group will preview songs from their fifth album for the first time.
The show is expected to begin at Gwanghwamun’s recently restored Woldae Platform, passing Heungnyemun Gate and Geunjeongmun Gate, before passing the King Sejong statue and arriving at the center of the square for the main show.
Since participation in the concert is free, authorities predict that up to 260,000 people could gather in the Gwanghwamun area that day. The venue will feature standing and reserved seating sections, and large LED screens will be installed to accommodate attendees in areas with limited visibility.
In addition to on-site audiences, the event will be live-streamed exclusively via Netflix in more than 190 countries around the world, further amplifying global anticipation for BTS’ long-awaited return.
