On the February 18 episode of “War of Fortune 49“, a one-on-one “battle reading” took place between Noh Seulbi, a shaman with five years of experience, and Jiseon Doryeong, who has 13 years of experience. While reciting details from Noh Seulbi’s past, Jiseon Doryeong suddenly mentioned her “left breast”. Noh Seulbi later revealed, “I actually had cancer in my left breast once. It wasn’t something I had written down anywhere, so I was very surprised,” sending shivers to everyone present.
In the following reading, Noh Seulbi’s painful family history was mentioned once again. Having previously endured a forced pregnancy and physical abuse due to gaslighting at the age of 19, she shared on the broadcast, “My mother was kind, but my father was very obsessive about me.” She specifically revealed that the day of filming was the anniversary of her father’s death and burst into tears that she had been holding back, eliciting sympathy from viewers.
The tension between the two shamans was also palpable. When Noh Seulbi pointed out Jiseon Doryeong’s nervousness and asked, “Wasn’t it difficult to receive your spiritual calling at such a young age?” Jiseon Doryeong expressed his disappointment, replying, “Reflect on yourself before criticizing others. Don’t belittle me.” In a separate interview, he added a caveat, saying: “What Noh Seulbi said seemed very unfair,” increasing the tension on the set.
In the past, Noh Seulbi had also suffered verbal abuse from her ex-husband, who he once told her to “register your daughter as deceased”, before undergoing the initiation ritual.
