On February 12, Lee Joon Hyuk appeared on the Netflix Korea YouTube channel alongside Shin Hye Sun in an episode titled “We’re here to promote, but…”. During the conversation, he talked about his recent drama Love Scoutsin which he starred alongside Han Ji Min.
Host Yoo Byung Jae said fans had long hoped to see Lee take on a romance project and asked if that request had influenced his casting. Lee responded that the opportunity actually aligned with a long-standing goal within his agency. “The director of our company had been talking for years about wanting Han Ji Min and I to work together on a project like this. It was something they had set as a goal, and then it actually happened,” he explained.

Lee also reflected on the change in his career path. After filming The raid: no way outfor which he gained weight and immersed himself in a tougher image, he thought he would continue to take on similarly intense roles. “I was working hard in that direction, but suddenly people started asking me to do melodramas instead,” he said with a laugh. “It seems like things don’t always go according to your plan.”

Describe Love Scouts since his first project was primarily focused on romance, Lee admitted he had a lot of concerns. “It was the first time I focused on romance,” he shared. “I was very worried. I kept thinking, ‘Who wants to see someone who always kills people in action movies suddenly do a melodrama?’ My previous roles were so intense, so I honestly didn’t understand why I was chosen.

Despite his doubts, Lee described the drama as a great challenge and credited his co-star Han Ji Min with helping him overcome it. “It seemed like a big risk, but Ji Min supported me, and thanks to her, I was able to do it,” he said, expressing his gratitude.
Meanwhile, the new Netflix original series by Lee Joon Hyuk and Shin Hye Sun Sara’s art will release all episodes on February 13 at 5pm KST.
