Lee Jun-hyuk has confirmed his appearance in SBS’s new occult exorcism drama

Actor Lee Jun-hyuk has confirmed his appearance in the upcoming SBS drama “Awakening” (provisional title), providing welcome news about a year after gaining attention for his chemistry with Han Ji-min in a previous project.

“Awakening” is a drama about occult exorcism set in a brutal grade-obsessed academic environment. The story follows students who are tempted by mysterious awakening drugs meant to improve academic performance, only to develop terrifying abilities that allow them to hear the voices of the dead as classmates begin to die one after another. In this “exam hell” transformed into a playground for evil spirits, an exorcist priest risks his soul to save the students.

In the drama, Lee Jun-hyuk plays Antonio, a newly appointed priest as head of Holy Spirit High School. Although he initially seems like a figure who arouses curiosity and discomfort among the students, Antonio is actually an exorcist officially ordained by the Vatican Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. As strange incidents increase, he puts everything on the line to track down the force driving the students into a deadly race.

“Awakening” marks the first time Lee Jun-hyuk takes on a role in the occult genre. He has previously shown a wide range of acting through dramas such as “Designated Survivor: 60 days” and various film projects, raising expectations for a new side of his performance. The SBS drama “Awakening” will air next year.
