After three nights of concerts in Hong Kong (China), BLACKPINK officially concluded their concert EXPIRATION world tour, which consisted of a total of 33 shows over approximately six months. The repeated references of members aa “final concert” left fans deeply upset, as this was one of the rare tours to end so abruptly, without any announcement of encore shows.
During the final night of the concert, Jennie, Lisa, and Rosé couldn’t hold back their tears as they emotionally addressed BLINK (BLACKPINK’s fandom), knowing that they would be separated from fans for a long time. Fans even captured moments of Jennie sobbing on stage, further fueling speculation that BLACKPINK may be heading towards disbandment as their contract renewal period approaches.
Recently, on the talk show/podcast Call her dadRosé spoke openly for the first time about the rumors of BLACKPINK’s possible dissolution. When host Alex asked, “Have you ever talked about what would happen if one of you didn’t want to continue with BLACKPINK?”Rose replied:
“I think we have… I don’t remember if there was a specific conversation about it. But if one of us feels that, at that moment, continuing is no longer the right thing, then everyone will respect that decision.
BLACKPINK is like any relationship: if someone is not ready for something, it must be respected. And I think we’ve always been ready to do that, because there’s only four of us. We would never disagree with anyone’s decision at any point in their life. We believe that every decision made is the right one for that person.”
Rosé’s response immediately sent the fan community into a frenzy. Although the member often praised as BLACKPINK’s strongest singer did not directly mention the disbandment, her statement that the group would respect a member’s choice “don’t continue” was seen by many as indirect confirmation that disbandment remains a real possibility for the global girl group.
On social media, many BLINKs believe Rosé is emotionally preparing fans for all possible scenarios. Others see his comments as a realistic reflection of the group’s situation; after nearly 10 years in business, each member has their own individual journey to consider.
