On September 3, Dolphiners Films director Shin Woo-seok responded to ADOR’s statement by once again posting his stance on his social media platform.
In particular, Director Shin stated: “Today we reaffirmed the agreement regarding the upload of the director’s cut to the phone,” and he stressed“The three companies that came together for the production have agreed to distribute the director’s cut on the Dolphiners Films channel for fans.”
According to Shin, the current management of ADOR is falsely claiming that Dolphiners Films released the director’s cut without authorization. He questioned, “Why do they drag unrelated third parties into their statement for media manipulation?” and criticized him as “ignoring the unwritten rules of the advertising industry and betraying fundamental trust in business.”
Shin further clarified that ADOR had requested the deletion of the videos, stating that content with rights belonging to ADOR could only be posted on official accounts and not on third-party channels.
He added: “On Sunday night, they unilaterally threatened that if the videos were not deleted by Monday morning, they would send a formal warning to Dolphin Kidnapper and demand double the service fee as a penalty. But now, what are they saying? Did they only find out about the existence of the Ban Hee-soo channel after it was deleted?”
Shin asked: “What director in the world would destroy their own work? Why would I do that? The Ban Hee-soo channel was an extension of the work ‘Ditto’ that I directed, and it was a channel and videos that I created voluntarily without any compensation to the fans. Now they are claiming that I suddenly deleted everything without any reason?”
She reiterated that Dolphiners Films worked hard to create a good music video and took on the project without being paid for the sake of the quality of the work and the fans. Despite unreasonable demands from ADOR that overturned the original agreement, they deleted the videos.
Shin concluded by asking: “Without knowing the original agreement, what dissatisfaction leads ADOR to paint Dolphin Kidnapper as a breach of contract and a spreader of false information? Whether it’s because I wrote a petition, refused to produce a music video for HYBE, or because they’re trying to cancel NewJeans, let’s not distort the truth with dirty media manipulation. But I’m sure they’ll try again.”
Shin Woo-seok, the director of NewJeans’ hit music videos for “Ditto” and “ETA,” previously revealed that ADOR had requested the deletion of NewJeans-related videos on YouTubers Dolphiners Films and Ban Hee-soo, as well as prohibiting their further release.
ADOR, in response, posted a notice on their official Twitter account in the early hours of the 3rd, explaining that the director’s cut of the “ETA” music video posted on Dolphin Kidnapper’s SNS channel was an edited version that included content previously disputed with the advertiser and had been uploaded without the advertiser’s consent.
Despite the controversy, NewJeans fans expressed disappointment and confusion over ADOR’s decision, especially since the Ban Hee-soo channel run by Dolphin Kidnapper was named after NewJeans’ fan club, Bunnies, and served as a shared space for the group and its fans.
