Day 6

This summer, JYP boy band Day6 has seen a decline in popularity after the rise of their previous songs, “You Were Beautiful” and “Time of Our Life.”

Following this momentum, the quartet consisting of Sungjin, Young K, Wonpil, and Dowoon returned with their ninth mini-album “Band Aid” on September 2.

Just one day after its release, the song saw a meteoric rise on the national music charts, with the title track “Melt Down” scoring their first Real-Time All-Kill (RAK). The song topped all major Korean charts, including Genie, Bugs, Vibe, MelOn’s Hot 100, and more.

Surprisingly, Day6 even reached number one on the Korean music chart Melon Top 100 with “Melt Down,” beating out aespa’s global hit “Supernova.”

With this album the band made history, reaching number one on the local music charts for the first time since their debut in 2015.

Day6 also joined the only 8 artists to reach RAK so far this year: IU, BIBI, (G)I-DLE, ILLIT, ZICO feat. Jennie, and Lee Young Ji feat. DO

Additionally, all eight songs from the album “Band Aid” entered the MelOn Top 100, Genie and Bugs charts, along with four previous releases, such as “Welcome to the Show”, “Time of Our Life”, “You’re Beautiful” and “HAPPY”.

On YouTube Korea, the music video “Melt Down” also proved its power by ranking third on the trending songs chart.

Meanwhile, Day6’s influence has extended beyond South Korea after “Band Aid” ranked No. 10 on the iTunes World Album Chart on September 2 and No. 1 on the iTunes Album Chart in 9 overseas regions, including Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, as of September 3.

Day6’s ninth mini-album, “Band Aid”, is a play on words combining the words “band”, meaning rock group, and “aid”, meaning “to help”.

The four members Sungjin, Young K, Wonpil, and Dowoon participated in writing the lyrics and composing all the songs, and the main song is composed of the message that “everything melts because of ‘you’ when it seems like the world is freezing in despair,” and it’s a song with a strong but cheerful sound and warm lyrics.

After a strong start with record-breaking results on the first day of their new album release, Day6 will continue their comeback promotion and hold a concert at Incheon Inspire Arena from September 20 to 22, kicking off their third world tour “FOREVER YOUNG”.
