On January 6, a video titled “Why Jung Hyung Don’s Wife Han Yoo Ra Is Criticized” was uploaded to Jung’s YouTube channel “Mungchin TV”. After seeing a short viral clip full of provocative statements, Jung Hyung Don reacted with visible shock and frustration.
The controversial short-form video claimed that Jung Hyung Don had downplayed his debt before the wedding, had lost financial control after the wedding, and that these problems had caused an 11-month delay in registering his marriage. Although Jung Hyung Don admitted that there were financial difficulties at the beginning of their marriage, he strongly denied that debt was the reason for the delayed registration.
“What are they talking about? We didn’t delay registering our marriage because of debts,” he said, drawing a clear line against this misleading narrative.
The fake news went further, claiming that Jung Hyung Don became a “father goose” (living apart from his family) while his wife and daughters remained in Hawaii, allegedly leading him to develop mental health problems and put his television career on hold.
Jung Hyung Don responded bluntly, “They’re saying that my wife and kids went to Hawaii, and that’s why I got mentally ill and stopped working? What should I do with this kind of nonsense?”
The moment that pushed Jung Hyung Don over the edge was the claim that his wife didn’t return to Korea during his mother’s funeral. He immediately refuted the accusation angrily.
“She came back. My wife and kids came back. Of course they did,” he stressed. “Just having to explain it is absurd.”
What shocked Jung Hyung Don the most was how much engagement the video received with over 5,000 comments.
“There are more than 5,400 comments about it. The fact that I have to explain lies like this is ridiculous,” he said. “What makes me the most angry is that people make money off it. People believe it, so they leave comments.”
Visibly hurt, Jung Hyung Don criticized the morality behind such content: “Is it really okay to tear apart a well-living family, just because you feel like it? It’s deeply painful. In 2026, let’s stop making money this way. Live properly. Live like human beings.”
Jung Hyung Don married former TV writer Han Yoo Ra in 2009 and the couple has twin daughters. Despite maintaining a relatively private family life, they have often been the subject of speculation, something Jung has made clear he will no longer tolerate.
