Global fan community platform Weverse has confirmed disciplinary action against an internal employee following allegations of information leaks about the fan sign event.
The controversy emerged after screenshots allegedly showing mobile messaging conversations between a Weverse employee and an acquaintance circulated in online communities. The images appeared to indicate that the employee had accessed and shared information regarding the Fan Sign event lottery results, including whether specific individuals had been selected.
In response, Weverse Company launched an immediate internal investigation. After establishing the facts, the company concluded that the facts constituted a serious violation of internal regulations and labor standards.
In an official statement provided to Sports Seoul, Weverse said: “Our investigation confirmed misconduct by an employee that caused harm to both customers and the company. The individual was immediately removed from his duties and referred to the disciplinary committee.” The company added that it is also looking into possible legal action related to the incident.
Weverse stressed that it is taking steps to address the impact on customers resulting from the leak. Affected users will receive a formal apology along with detailed explanations regarding the disciplinary measures taken against the employee involved.
The platform also announced preventive measures to be followed. “To prevent a recurrence, we will conduct compliance training for all employees and further strengthen our internal control systems,” the company said.
As Weverse continues to expand as a global hub connecting artists and fans around the world, the incident has sparked a renewed discussion about data protection, transparency and ethical responsibility within fan-driven platforms.
