Fans of IU and Byeon Woo-seok finally got to experience their long-awaited couple moment on December 30 at MBC Drama Awards 2025held at the MBC Media Center in Sangam-dong, Seoul.
The pair appeared on stage together to present the Drama of the Year award, marking their first official public appearance as co-stars of the upcoming 2026 drama. Wife of the Grand Prince of the 21st century —one of MBC’s most anticipated series for next year.
Dressed in matching black outfits, IU and Byeon Woo-seok stood side by side, immediately catching attention. IU wowed with a look inspired by traditional Korean beauty, complete with mal binyeo (hairpin), while Byeon Woo-seok wore a modern take on traditional hanbok attire, fusing classic elegance with red carpet style.
IU broke the ice, saying: “We’ve been seeing each other on set a lot lately, and since our drama is set in a constitutional monarchy, we always wear elaborate costumes. But it seems like you dressed especially well today.”
Visibly nervous, Byeon Woo-seok responded, “It’s my first time at the MBC Drama Awards, so I wanted to dress a little more formally. Do I look good on you?” IU reassured him with a smile, “You look particularly handsome today, Grand Prince.” He quickly returned the compliment, saying: “And Ji-eun, you look even more beautiful tonight.”
The sweet exchange sparked warm reactions from the audience, who delighted in the chemistry between the two stars.
IU then explained her choice of accessory, saying: “I decided to wear this horsehair pin in hopes of bringing good luck to viewers in the coming Year of the Horse. I wish everyone a happy new year.” Byeon Woo-seok echoed his wishes, also wishing the audience prosperity in 2026.
IU continued, “This is the first time I have greeted viewers through an MBC drama. I hope you will show much affection for our next project.” When Byeon Woo-seok encouraged her to introduce the drama properly, IU described Wife of the Grand Prince of the 21st century and their characters, before adding, “I hope next year our drama will be nominated for drama of the year at this stage.”
Their exchange on stage, full of mutual respect and budding chemistry, left fans even more excited for their upcoming drama and earned them instant status as a “buzz couple” in Korean entertainment circles.
