Popular comedian Park Na-rae has officially resigned from tvN’s variety show Amazing Saturday after seven years, following her decision to cease all broadcast activities due to a recent legal dispute with her former managers.
On December 8, a tvN representative confirmed to TenAsia: “We respect Park Na-rae’s decision to suspend her broadcasting activities. From this moment on he will not participate in the recordings.The network added that approximately two weeks of pre-recorded content featuring Park had already been filmed and the production team would “do its best in post-production” to deliver those episodes.
Park Na-rae has been one of the original cast members of Amazing Saturday since its launch in 2018 and has remained a key presence on the show for seven years.
This announcement follows her recent departure from MBC variety show I Live Alone and comes just days after it was revealed that Park is facing legal issues with her former managers, who are reportedly pursuing a damages claim of approximately 100 million KRW (~$76,000 USD). His former managers reportedly filed a property seizure request in the Seoul Western District Court on December 3 and are preparing a lawsuit for alleged damages suffered during the employment period.
In response, Park Na-rae addressed the situation on her personal social media account on December 8. He explained that two managers, who he regarded as family, suddenly resigned in early November, causing communication breakdowns and misunderstandings. He wrote:
“Thanks to everyone’s help, yesterday I finally had the chance to meet them. Although many misunderstandings have been resolved, I still believe that this situation arose from my negligence, and I reflect on it deeply.”
Park also explained his choice to suspend all activities:
“As a comedian whose job is to bring laughter and joy, I feel that I should not further burden my programs or my colleagues. Until everything is clearly resolved, I have decided to discontinue my television activities.”
Her heartfelt statement and gracious exit sparked mixed reactions, with many fans expressing support and hoping for a smooth resolution to the conflict. Park’s absence will undoubtedly leave a sizable void on Amazing Saturday, a show he helped turn into one of tvN’s flagship variety hits.
