The first night of MAMA 2025 kicked off on November 28 at Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong, celebrating the music industry’s achievements with performances and award presentations. The second night follows on November 29, featuring other major stars.
However, the event takes place under grim circumstances. A few days earlier, a catastrophic fire in the Tai Po area of Hong Kong left at least 128 people dead and more than 200 missing. After emergency discussions, the organizers decided to proceed MAMA 2025 but with a smaller and more solemn format to express solidarity with the mourning public.

While many fans expressed understanding and support for the decision, recognizing it as a necessary move to preserve decorum, others expressed disappointment. For years, artists’ spontaneous reactions, captured by cameramen or fancams, have been the highlights of the show, fueling fan excitement and engagement on social media.
