Kris Wuthe disgraced Chinese-Canadian pop star serving a Sentenced to 13 years in prison for rape and organizing group sex, is making headlines again, this time for legal and financial troubles involving his former management company.
According to Chinese media DahebaoTHE Second Zhongshan People’s Court initiated enforcement proceedings against Wu’s company, Beijing Fanshi Culture Media Co., Ltd.ON September 1strequesting payment of ¥38,563 RMB (about NT$173,533 OR $5,400 USD) in the legal costs relating to a contractual dispute.
The company was designated a “discredited entity” after repeatedly failing to comply with court rulings. As a result, the authorities issued a forced execution order.
In a related move, that of Kris Wu cousin Wu Linwhich acts as a company legal representativewas hit with a consumption restriction order. The ban prohibits him from engaging in high-cost activities such as flying first class, traveling by high-speed rail in premium cabins, staying in luxury hotels or buying real estate.
Although Wu has been incarcerated since then 2021his name continues to circulate online. Voices of his alleged death in prison recently went viral but have not been confirmed. In the meantime his family also came under legal control. His mother and cousin they would have been investigated for money laundering and tax evasionwith his mother even in front of him temporary detentioneffectively interrupting all family visits.
Kris Wu, a former idol in both China and Korea and former member of EXO, has been sentenced raped three drunken women and organize group sex parties. The 2021 scandal shocked the entertainment industry and ended his career overnight.
As court actions continue, it appears Wu’s legal and financial consequences are far from over, even behind bars.
