“They Dumped Me Because I’m Ugly” Japanese Woman Spends 170 Million Won on Full Body Plastic Surgery

On August 28, the Sankei Shimbun featured the story of a Japanese woman named “Lara” who decided to undergo full-body plastic surgery after her ex-boyfriend criticized her appearance, leading to their breakup.

This woman shared on her SNS that her ex-boyfriend broke up with her 5 years ago, shortly after she started working as a nurse. Reflecting on her appearance at the time, she described herself as “sloppy and overweight.”

Having never flown before, she took a flight to Korea after the breakup, carrying cash to fund her “full body transformation.” The procedures, including facial contouring, rhinoplasty, and eye surgery, took a total of 9 hours. She continued with additional procedures such as liposuction and fat grafting in both Korea and Japan. During her many surgeries, she focused on avoiding trendy looks and maintaining a natural appearance. In total, she spent 18 million JPY on her transformation.

Lara’s before and after photos have attracted a lot of attention on social media and she has since become a popular influencer in Japan. She revealed that after losing over 10 kg and spending 18 million JPY on plastic surgery, she worked hard and managed to surpass an annual income of 10 million JPY in 6 months. Her goal is to become a mentally and financially independent woman and has saved 13 million JPY so far. Lara emphasized, “If you really want to be happy, you have to commit to changing yourself, even if it’s hard, and create a life that fulfills you.

She added that her transformation wasn’t limited to her looks. She concluded, “Gaining confidence in my appearance has also led to changes in my behavior. In the past, I used to blame others and put them down to maintain my self-esteem, but after the surgery, I gained confidence and was able to change that part of my personality. Both my inner and outer self have changed for the better. I always remind myself that only I can change myself..”
