On November 16, Ralral uploaded a video titled “The story of losing your phone in an American airport” on his YouTube channel, where he recalled the shocking incident.
Ralral explained that he recently changed his phone before the trip. He was traveling with his little girl and initially thought he could save on airfare by having her sit on his lap. But he shared, “My daughter was much bigger than I expected. I had to stand while holding her, so I couldn’t sleep for even a minute.”
When he landed at a U.S. airport and awaited transfer to Maui, things changed. “The flight was delayed for 7 hours. While waiting, my phone disappeared. The Honolulu airport is huge. I ran so much that an employee told me to go outside the airport to look for it,” he said.
With the help of an airport employee, Ralral went out through an employee gate to look for her phone, but couldn’t find it anywhere. When he tried to return to the airport, panic broke out.
As she ran inside looking for her phone, two police officers suddenly detained her.
“They grabbed me like they were catching a criminal. Everyone was staring at me. I told them I was just looking for my phone, but then six police officers showed up. People were looking at me like I was arrested for drugs.”
The police questioned her, asking why the loss of her phone had anything to do with rushing into the airport, making the situation even more stressful for her. Ralral was then returned to the employee who had originally opened the staff door for her.
“He asked me why I was running inside the airport and told me to check my phone again before letting me go,” Rralral recalled. She ended up detained for two hours before being reunited with her family.
Luckily, she eventually remembered her phone’s “Find My iPhone” feature. Sending a heartfelt message through the device, she tracked him down.
“I left a long message full of desperation. Then I went back to the employee and asked her: ‘You don’t happen to have my iPhone, do you?’ And he handed it to me.”
The incident has since attracted attention online, with many viewers shocked at how much the situation has escalated due to a missing phone.
