On November 12, Lee Yi Kyung was spotted at Incheon International Airport filming scenes for the upcoming TBS drama Dream stagewhose release is scheduled for January next year. The drama is a Korea-Japan joint production between CJ ENM and Japan’s TBS. Lee stars as the lead, filming alongside Japanese actor Tomoya Nakamura and Korean actress Ha Yeon Soo in scenes set in Korea.
Dream stage is one of several co-productions resulting from a partnership between CJ ENM and TBS Group, who agreed in May 2024 to jointly create multiple films and dramas over three years.
Lee’s choice as the male lead reportedly stems from his growing popularity in Japan, particularly after his drama on tvN Marry my husband it was remade in a Japanese version and received favorable responses locally.
Besides this project, Lee is also lined up for the Vietnamese film I’m heremaintaining his busy schedule.
Meanwhile, last month, an online user sparked controversy by sharing alleged private messages with Lee Yi Kyung. However, the individual later retracted the claims, admitted that the content had been fabricated using artificial intelligence, and issued a public apology. Lee’s agency, Sangyoung ENT, responded by stating: “We are preparing legal action against the spread of false information and harmful rumors,” and undertook to seek compensation for the damage caused.
Coincidentally, around the same time, Lee announced his departure from the variety show Hangout with Yoo due to scheduling conflicts. He was also initially chosen as the new MC for KBS 2TV The Return of Superman but in the end he did not join.
