Jung Eun-chae, who played prosecutor Kang So-young in the new ENA drama “Your Honor,” was criticized for her awkward performance. Fans say that other cast members like Son Hyun-joo, Kim Myung-min, and Jo Dan-ro do not create acting holes, but their interest in the drama was halved because of Jung Eun-chae, who appeared from the 5th to the 6th episode. Since the actress has 14 years of experience, many say that it could be due to poor character development or poor direction.
Prosecutor Kang So-young, played by Jeong Eun-chae in “Your Honor,” is the epitome of a righteous prosecutor who targets the chaebol gangster group. She is a strong and upright person with a mission to root out corruption. The scenes where she visits Chairman Kim Kang-heon and warns him and calls the prosecutor and police officers, who have become spies for the Woo-won group, “Rat boys,” raise the fans’ expectations.
The problem, however, is that the show tried to show her character in a compressed way, making her wear a short coat, smoke cigarettes and swear. Actors and actresses have to try different styles and costumes to fit their characters before filming the drama, but they seem to have neglected this writing process or taken the wrong direction in “Your Honor”. However, if Jung’s acting had been excellent, such decorative elements would have been blurred, but her acting could not compensate.
While there are some comments that compliment her appearance, most of them point out that they are disappointed. “Kang So-young is so cute but it doesn’t fit her character,” “What’s wrong with her playing a prosecutor?”, “Do they think smoking in a short coat makes her look strong?” and “The problem is more in the direction.”
Jung Eun-chae, who debuted in 2010 with the film “Haunters,” has appeared in 12 films so far, excluding her special appearance. After Apple TV’s drama “Pachinko Season 2” released on August 23, her next work, tvN’s “Jungnyeon: The Star Is Born,” starring Kim Tae-ri, will also air on October 12. Notably, “Your Honor” was produced by Take One Company, owned by Jung Min-chae, Jung’s brother.
