On August 28, SM Entertainment released the news that Taeil is no longer a member of NCT after discovering that he was being investigated for a serious sexual crime.

Despite the agency’s apparent attempt at damage control to protect NCT, the remaining members are facing dire consequences for things they had no involvement in, after their solo activities were canceled one after another.

Jaehyun, who released his debut album “J” on the 26th, announced that he is putting his highly anticipated solo commitments on hold, including his fan signing event scheduled for today (August 29) with Soundwave.

Mark and Haechan also announced that their fans’ requests for this Friday’s DREAM( )SCAPE album set will be postponed, as per SM Entertainment’s request. It will be rescheduled for a later date.

When the news was made public, current NCT 127 members Johnny, Taeyong, Yuta, Doyoung, Jaehyun, Mark, Haechan, and Jungwoo unfollowed Taeil on social media.

Not only did the remaining members of NCT 127 cut ties with the idol, but other sub-units, including NCT Dream and WayV, also stopped following Taeil one after another.

It is particularly noteworthy that some members unfollowed not only Taeil, but also all the NCT members they had followed.

Although the celebrity is still considered an SM Entertainment artist, he was no longer listed on SMTOWN, and all of his photos, videos, and other tracks featuring him on SNS were deleted.

In addition to NCT, Taeil’s fan masters had closed down, and from around 6 million followers on social media, their number dropped by around 700,000 overnight.

Taeil debuted as a member of NCT in 2016 and performed as the main vocalist, singing highlights in the main songs. He was also a member of the sub-units, NCT U and NCT 127, and was known for being responsible for the vocals that set the tone for the team.

With his departure, NCT is expected to rearrange their future comeback and album release schedules.

Taeil is the second member to leave NCT after Lucas.
