Former FIFTY FIFTY members Saena, Sio, and Aran have filed a civil lawsuit against ATTRAKT. The update was followed by reactions from K-pop fans, who expressed mixed responses to the legal update.
On August 27, Korean news outlets reported that Saena, Sio, and Aran filed a lawsuit against ATTRAKT CEO Jeon Hong Joon. The lawsuit reportedly involved the members seeking ₩300 million KRW ($225,300.00 USD).
The lawsuit was previously filed on August 23 at the Seoul Central District Court. The settlement lawsuit is also the members’ countersuit to ATTRAKT’s 13 billion won ($9,761,700.00 USD) damages lawsuit, which includes the members, their parents, and The Givers CEO Ahn Sung Il.
Both cases have been assigned to the 31st Civil Division and will be consolidated for the proceedings. The three idols will also be represented by Dongin Law Firm in their damages and compensation claims.
The three idols are currently preparing their activities as a newly debuted trio coming in the midst of FIFTY FIFTY’s re-entry into the K-pop scene with its new members. Saena, Sio, and Aran signed an exclusive contract with IOK Company’s new label MASSIVE E&C earlier on August 12.
The news eventually created a forum where K-netz expressed their dismay at the trio’s actions.
- “They’re really good at talking bullshit.”
- “They’re really cheeky.”
- “Isn’t this the money you were asked for?”
- “They are the ones who broke the golden eggs that were given to them (ndt: bite the hand that feeds you).”
- “Isn’t this your penalty?”
- “Pay your penalty.”
- “Where is their shame?”
Meanwhile, the legal updates were also met with negative responses from international fans, who expressed concern over the trio’s second chance. They were also curious about how Saena, Sio, and Aran’s debut would go, given the controversy.
- “And that’s why I don’t feel sorry for them at all. They’re making terrible financial decisions.”
- “With all the debt they have, why the hell would they go back and collect more legal fees for something that isn’t secured?”
- “They should open a GoFundMe so that all the boycotters can support the project.”
- “Of course they have been manipulated, but they need to take responsibility for their actions. They are giving the impression of being petty and unrepentant, which will not help their aspirations at all.”
- “Girls, just stop.”
- “They are obsessed with Attrakt and desperately want to be relevant.”
- “I want to know who pays those lawyers, because continuing like this when you already have 13 million in debt is the stupidest thing I can think of.”
- “Here I am, in their previous article, wishing them not to get into further debt, and for what?”
- “Are they already destroying their second chance? Oh no.”
- “They’re so immersed in controversy that I wonder how their debut will go.”
