Former TREASURE member Bang Yedam has drawn mixed reactions due to his recent style.
Bang Yedam is preparing his comeback on August 29th with his second mini album, Good feelings. Since it’s coming out in a couple of days, he’s busy promoting it.
Recently, he posted a video on TikTok to promote his upcoming track, “O-HE.” The video has gone viral, with 464.5K views as of this writing.

However, the comments section wasn’t thrilled about the comeback. Instead, many netizens were alarmed by his hairstyle, which is the same one shown in the song’s teaser MV, as it seemed like cultural appropriation. Many felt that Bang Yedam had a hairstyle that mimicked a hairstyle from black culture.
Some jumped to Bang Yedam’s defense. They said that if you look closely, it’s clear that her hair is braided normally; it’s not box braids or bangs.
However, many feel that Bang Yedam’s hairstyle is a clear attempt to imitate the aesthetics of these hairstyles. So, some still find it problematic.
