On July 26, the Cambodia State Secretariat for Civil Aviation (SCA) announced the expansion of its non -flight area due to border clashes with Thailand. Flights are now prohibited on the conflict areas and the restriction extends to Poiper, Pailin and half of the province of Siem Reap. Aircraft are also prohibited to fly less than 1,200 meters above sea level. Despite these changes, the flights between Cambodia and Thailand remain unchanged, according to the spokesman for the Ssca Sin Chansereywattha.
This update follows a previous directive published on July 25, which requires that all aircraft fly below 11,000 meters within the Cambodian airspace to redirect to avoid risk. The directive will remain in force until further notice.
At the same time, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport Cambogiani has announced the closure of 536 schools in five provinces: Oddar Me also, Banteay Me also, Preah Vihear, Koh Kong and Pursat. The closures affect about 130,000 students and teachers due to the growing conflict along the Thai-Campodian border.
In Thailand, the Basic Education Commission (Obec) office has also ordered the temporary closure of 751 schools in high -risk areas near the Cambodian border. According to the regional educational offices of Si Sa Ket Ket and Yasothon, the students have been evacuated and all educational activities are suspended. Obec had previously instructed educational offices in the seven border provinces – Trant, Chanthaburi, Sa Kaeo, Ubon Ratchathani, you know Ket, Surin and Buri Ram – to prepare emergency teaching alternatives and strictly follow the response protocols to the crises. Safe school buildings can be converted into community refuges or rescue centers if necessary.
The border tensions between Thailand and Cambogia intensified in conflict on a large scale since 24 July, with the clashes that now enter their third day. The Ministry of Defense of Cambodia reported that, starting from July 26, 13 people had died – five soldiers – and 71 others were injured, mainly civilians.
In the meantime, the Thai military have confirmed at least 20 deaths, including 14 civilians and 6 soldiers. More than 138,000 people were evacuated from the Thai side of the border, while over 35,000 people were displaced in Cambodia.
