The 26th criminal division of the central district court of Soul should deliver the sentence on 10 July, involving ex NCT member Taeil (Real Name Moon Toeil) and two accomplices, identified as Mr. Lee and Mr. Hong. All three were offending in March for violating the Special act on the punishment of the crimes of sexual violence.
The accident occurred on June 13, 2023, around 4 in the morning, in the residence of Mr. Lee in Bangbae-Dong, Seocho-Gu. The defendants presumably attacked a Chinese national tourist, indicated as “A”, which according to what was reported was incapacitated due to alcohol.
During the process of June 18, the public ministries underlined the gravity of the crime and attempts of the defendants to evade the consequences. They revealed that the trio deliberately discussed that they put the victim in a taxi directed to a place other than the crime scene, presumably to confuse any potential investigation.
Although an agreement was reached with the victim, the accusation argued that the gravity of the case justified a firm sentence. “The defendants do not show any sincere remorse. Despite the agreement, we request a prison sentence of 7 years for each”. The prosecutor said.
The legal team of Taeil has begged the clemency, citing its completion of the prevention courses of sexual violence and therapy. “It is deeply remorse and promises not to repeat such actions”, He supported the defense. Taeil, in his last statement, said, “To those I have disappointed, I’m really sorry. If given another possibility, I will live my life doing well.”
Taeil made its debut in 2016 with NCT U and later became a member of NCT 127. Following the revelations, Smeniorinment Quickly removed from the group and ended his exclusive contract in October 2024.
