Jennie, the talented star of the global sensation of K-Pop Blackpink, has again demonstrated his commitment to have a positive impact beyond the stadium. On May 30, the College of Medicine of Soul National University announced that it had donated 100 million victories (about $ 73,000) to its development fund, a gesture aimed at cultivating the next generation of medical professionals who combine clinical excellence with empathy and social responsibility.
The University Development Funds Committee has revealed that Jennie’s contribution will be used to improve both educational and research environments at the School of Medicine. The goal is to promote future leaders in health care that have not only technical skills but also compassion, communication skills and a strong sense of duty towards the community.
“We deeply appreciate Jennie ‘generosity, which goes beyond financial support and embellishes positive influence,” said Kim Jeong-Eun, dean of the School of Medicine. “We will do our best to cultivate future leaders who have compassion, communication skills and a strong sense of responsibility to earn the trust of the public”.
This is not Jennie’s first philanthropic gesture towards the institution. In 2023, his independent label Odd Atelier, founded in the context of his solo career, also donated 100 million victories to the same college, underlining his underway dedication to support the development of future health workers. The repeated donations highlight a scheme of significant donations, distinguishing Jennie as an artist who uses his influence to support the causes.
Jennie’s philanthropy arrives at a time when the K-Pop industry is under intense control, with various disputes that disturb the high profile idols. Despite this demanding background, Jennie’s actions have won widespread praise by fans and the general public, who see it as a model to use fame to guide positive change. Social media have been in turmoil with support messages, with many praising to “slap the misogynies in the face” and show that artists can be impactful agents in the real world.
Do you see Jennie donate to medicine and connect it to a father who never mentions and pushes a random voice and not his good intentions that only wants to support the medicine that could be for any other personal reason and who is a good person who wants to help people? pic.twitter.com/qg4zjfn4k7
