A heated debate has raged among fans and netizens over Girls’ Generation’s choice to prioritize their careers over starting a family in their mid-30s.
Since their debut in 2007, the legendary girl group (Taeyeon, Sunny, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Tiffany, Sooyoung, YoonA and Seohyun) has won hearts as South Korea’s “Nation’s Girl Group” and its chart-topping hits like ” The Boys”, “Damn” and “Into the New World”.
Now, two decades later, the girls continue to shine as they expand their solo careers into various fields, such as music, acting, and entertainment.

Despite their impressive achievements, netizens in a male-dominated online community are scrutinizing members’ choice to remain childless and celibate. Among their second-generation peers, SNSD stands out as one of the few still without a family of their own.
“Given that they are 89 airline passengers, they are currently 36 years old and it is almost too late to get pregnant. They are barely invited to shows and have schedules now, so it would be better for them to have children and start the second chapter of their lives.
They earn a lot of money, so they likely prefer to travel and eat good food. Sure, that’s fine, for now. But wouldn’t they regret it once they hit 40? At that point they will still have money and could marry into white collar jobs and live like a DINK (Double Income, No Kids) couple. But it will be hard to have children.”
While many men expressed their support for the original poster’s criticism of the girl group, SONE, passionate fans of Girls’ Generation, found the post via a screenshot on the female-dominated forum theqoo, where they launched their counterattack.
“They said women are a hundred times happier if they don’t get married,” one fan wrote.
“It’s not that they can’t get married. They just don’t,” another added.
“Everyone is busy living their life, lol. But I’ll tell you don’t worry about celebrities, but worry about your life,” one SONE said.
Meanwhile, among the members of Girls’ Generation, only Sooyoung comes out publicly. She and actor Jung Kyung Ho have been together since 2012.
