A part of a KakaoTalk conversation between Kim Min-hee’s mother and Hong Sang-soo’s wife in 2016 was revealed through a magazine article.
Hong Sang-soo’s wife begged, “Please help your daughter come to her senses and return. This is unbearable for me.” In response, Kim Min-hee’s mother asked: “Do you think the wife of a cheating husband suffers more, or the mother of a daughter in love with a married man?“
Hong Sang-soo’s wife replied: “You don’t seem to understand the pain of a wife whose husband has been kidnapped. Ask someone close to you who is most hurt.” Kim Min-hee’s mother retorted: “I’m crying my heart out right now.“
When Hong Sang-soo’s wife harshly criticized “Your daughter is an adulteress who has destroyed a happy family“, Kim Min-hee’s mother expressed disappointment, “She is a well-behaved daughter. Watch your words.”
Hong Sang-soo’s wife replied “This is not the time to tell me how well you raised your daughter“, towards whom Kim Min-hee’s mother sought empathy, “You are also a mother raising a daughter.”
When Hong Sang-soo’s wife pointed out “You owe me a hundred apologies for raising a daughter who brought so much suffering to a family“, commented Kim Min-hee’s mother, “The director will come to his senses and come back when he realizes something.“
Despite the heated exchange, Kim Min-hee’s mother seems to have accepted her daughter’s relationship with Hong Sang-soo, as suggested by her current actions.
Recent reports indicate that Kim Min-hee and Hong Sang-soo reside in Hanam, Gyeonggi Province, near Kim Min-hee’s mother. It seems they may have formed a close bond with her.
The media captured the couple shopping together and visiting obstetrics and gynecology clinics, further fueling speculation about their life together.
