K-pop icon JY Park has lost his father.

On January 20, the founder of the talent label JYP Entertainment personally announced the news on Instagram in a long tribute.

He revealed that his father died in a hospital 10 minutes from the filming location, although he traveled from all over the world due to the nature of his work. With this, she could see him alive before and after his death.

The “When We Disco” singer also revealed the cause of his father’s death.

“In fact, my father had long battled dementia and was barely conscious for the last year before his death. My family was mentally preparing our hearts, however, seeing him go still makes me feel like the my heart sank to the ground,” Park wrote.

Despite its heavy heart, the question “What is love?” the producer clings to their destiny to Jesus and the gospel as a Christian family, saying goodbye to his father while anticipating their next meeting in the afterlife.

Park continued, “My best friend who I called ‘dad’ instead of ‘appa (father)’ till the end, my father who always believed in me and encouraged me, must read it from heaven now.”

“It’s all thanks to my father that I was able to become what I am today. Thank you, dad. You were truly the best dad for me. Let’s meet again and talk a lot,” he concluded.

Park announced that the funeral would be held in private with only his family and encouraged their acquaintances to join them only from the heart.
