Previously, on January 18, a video titled “SM Guitar Trainer tells stories of idols | Interview with guitarist Lee Seung-yeop, part 1” was posted on YouTube.
The video, which featured a guitarist coaching various K-pop idols, sheds light on previous allegations that Aespa’s Winter pretended to play guitar at a concert.
In particular, the guitar master recalled, “Recently, I think it was last year (2023 – considering the video was shot in 2024), when Winter from aespa was preparing for a concert, there was a stage where he performed a guitar piece. ”
According to him, Winter was practicing so diligently for this segment that his hands ended up bleeding, so he was frustrated to hear people accuse the female idol of only pretending to play.
“What really shocked me is that most of the audience only sees the artist standing on stage, they don’t see the practice and the difficulties involved” the guitar teacher complained, adding: “However, nowadays, with the development of technology, people magnify performances on YouTube, analyzing hands, pointing out mistakes, claiming something is fake, or calling it manual syncing.”
He went on to defend Winter from the allegations, stating: “When I saw such reactions, I felt very hurt. As his teacher, of course, performing the guitar piece accurately is important. But if you think about it, the preparation for that concert wasn’t just about playing the guitar. He also had to prepare for dancing, singing and everything else. Even professional guitarists would find it difficult to pull off a live performance under those circumstances. However, people only saw snippets of his efforts and made exaggerated criticisms. Watching it was really disheartening for me.
Ultimately, the instructor expressed his regret, saying: “This made me regret not identifying those reactions sooner and addressing them more effectively. It’s something I’ve been thinking about recently.
