The series, titled “Melo Movie”, features a romantic couple between actors Park Bo-young and Choi Woo-sik. Netflix confirmed the launch of “Melo Movie” on January 17, saying it would be released on February 14.
“Melo Movie” tells the story of young people who long for both love and the realization of their dreams, helping each other overcome their traumas. Choi Woo-sik plays the role of Go-gyeom, a former minor actor turned film critic, while Park Bo-young plays Kim Mu-bee, a woman who doesn’t like movies but becomes a director. Other cast members include Lee Jun-young as Hong Shi-joon, an unknown composer, and Jeon So-nee as Son Joo-a, a screenwriter and Hong Shi-joon’s former lover.
The series has gained a lot of interest not only thanks to its star-studded cast, but also thanks to the collaboration between director Oh Chung-hwan (Hotel Del Luna, Start-Up, Big Mouth) and writer Lee Na-eun (Our Beloved Summer) . .
The recently released teaser trailer hints at the creation of a “life-changing love story,” following the typical structure of a melodrama. The story centers on Go-gyeom and Kim Mu-bee’s fateful first meeting. Go-gyeom, an avid movie lover, is attracted to Kim Mu-bee because of her name, which happens to be “Film”. He approaches her playfully, but she pushes him away, saying: “Don’t talk to me.” Despite their differences, the two meet several times by coincidence, slowly growing closer.
After a kiss confirms their feelings, Kim Mu-bee’s story, “Go-gyeom disappeared just like that,” piques the curiosity of the spectators. Go-gyeom suddenly disappears after stirring up his emotions, and while Kim Mu-bee struggles to forget him, their relationship becomes complicated when Go-gyeom reappears. The question remains: will their love story end with a happy conclusion? Viewers eagerly await the answer.
