Singer-songwriter Heize has released a special live clip for her song “Broken Diary” to celebrate her 11th debut anniversary.
Heize uploaded the music video to his official YouTube channel on January 17 as a surprise for fans.
“Thank you to everyone who has been with me on this journey,” he said, expressing his gratitude.
In “Broken Diary”, the third track of his eighth EP Fallingreleased on November 6, Heize recalls memories of old diary entries, immersing himself in the nostalgia of promises he once believed would last forever and people he thought would always remain.
“Now, ten years later, some of those feelings and people and beliefs have faded,” he said in an interview with The Herald of Korea.
“This song captures the realization of the impermanence of what I once thought was eternal.”
The singer added that the project marked her growth as a songwriter, while previous works were simple, Falling signals his pivot to writing texts that remain in the abstract.
“The texts in the Not very cute rap star (2015) days were raw and direct, reflecting a simpler, unfiltered expression,” he said.
“Over time, my lyrics have become more complex, probably shaped by my audience awareness and personal reflection. Now, I want to hold back less, aiming for a freer and more genuine lyrical style in the future.”
“It’s hard to write lyrics for more brilliant songs. Maybe it’s a bit of an obsession, but since people love my breakup songs so much, sometimes I feel like it’s almost my job to keep passing them on. If a new, Bright love finds its way to me, things might change.”
