Additionally, more exclusive events, like fansigns, can quickly increase costs into the thousands. Recently, a fan site master drew attention for his treatment of his own mother in exchange for money at K-Pop events.
In a Weibo post, messages between the fansite owner and her mother show the fan asking for money, then responding rudely when denied and even threatening to self-harm.
