Recently, BLACKPINK’s Rosé participated in a “Lie Detector” interview session with Vanity Fair.
Here, the female idol denied rumors that Jaden Smith is the junkie ex who inspired her song “Toxic to the End,” adding that the male celebrity is a good friend.
Additionally, Rosé mentioned that her friends have been matchmaking, which went well, and discussed how she watches fanedits and reads fanfics about herself.
However, one question from this interview section, which somewhat agitated Rosé, raised the eyebrows of many fans.
In particular, this question referred to a remark by American producer and singer-songwriter Benny Blanco, who recently got engaged to Selena Gomez. Benny apparently mentioned meeting BLACKPINK and referring to them as his idols, so Rosé was asked in return if he was her “idol.”
Hearing this, Rosé put on a confused expression and hesitated, before answering “Yes”, only for the lie detector to reveal it to be a lie.
Rosé then explained that Benny was a good guy, but “idol” was a big word, hence her real response: “No.”
However, fans who saw the question flooded Vanity Fair with criticism, questioning why Benny Blanco is being mentioned in the first place, when Rosé has never collaborated with him.
“Why would they ask him,” one fan asked, while another noted, “Have they run out of questions? Why him of all artists?”
