Kim Min-hee conceived Hong Sang-soo’s child naturally. The couple discovered their pregnancy last summer and Kim Min-hee is currently in the final stages of her pregnancy. The baby is expected to arrive this spring.
Kim Min-hee and Hong Sang-soo currently live in Hanam, Gyeonggi Province. Hong Sang-soo moved out of his home in Apgujeong, where he lived with his legal wife, and purchased a new house in Hanam, where Kim Min-hee’s parents reside.
Dispatch captured moments from their daily lives late last year. The couple enjoyed dates at popular restaurants and shopped at a market near Hanam.
Kim Min-hee was seen driving, with Hong Sang-soo sitting in the passenger seat. Recently, Hong Sang-soo started taking driving lessons again, apparently in preparation for life after the baby is born.
On January 15, the two visited an obstetrics and gynecology clinic together. Hong Sang-soo was at Kim Min-hee’s side throughout her pregnancy, from confirmation to check-ups, without letting herself be discouraged by public scrutiny.
Kim Min-hee and Hong Sang-soo’s relationship has been controversial for nine years. They met during the 2015 film “Right Now, Wrong Then” and publicly admitted their relationship in 2017.
Hong Sang-soo is still legally married. He married his wife, identified as A, in 1985 after meeting her during his studies in the United States. The couple has a daughter. Since leaving his family, Hong Sang-soo has been living with Kim Min-hee for the past nine years.
The child Kim Min-hee is carrying will be listed as an illegitimate child in Hong Sang-soo’s family registry. However, A will be legally listed as the mother unless Kim Min-hee chooses to register the child solely under her name.
After the scandal, Kim Min-hee only appeared in Hong Sang-soo’s films, including “On the Beach at Night Alone”, “The Day After”, “Hotel by the River”, “The Woman Who Ran”, “Introduction” and “Walk Up”, among others.
In August 2024, Kim Min-hee won the Best Performance award at the 77th Locarno Film Festival for her role in “By the Stream.” At that time, she held the trophy in her hands and Hong Sang-soo’s child in her womb.
