On January 16th the trial of the streamer who blackmailed the singer Kim Junsu took place at the Uijeongbu District Court.
The prosecution requested a seven-year sentence on charges of extorting money through threats from Kim Junsu.
During the trial, the streamer’s side revealed their position on why they committed the crime.
They were addicted to propofol and unable to make rational decisions, forcing them to commit the crime to secure drug money.

They added that the streamer was reflecting on their actions following the arrest.
They did not intentionally approach the victim to record him. Some of the money was used to pay for his father’s hospital bills while he was battling prostate cancer.

Previously, it was reported that a AfreecaTV female streamer, ex blackmailed TVXQ member Kim Junsu and stole over ₩800 million KRW (approximately $569,000 USD).
During the investigation it emerged that, after meeting Kim Junsu in 2019, the streamer threatened to distribute audio files of conversations about sexual relations and received money in exchange for not publishing them.
