In his interview with Sporty Kyunghangthe former idol was asked why he lashed out at fans on social media when they associated him with his former group. He replied with his head down, “I am a person who caused great harm to both BIGBANG and my former company due to mistakes made in the past.“
TOP explained that he wanted to leave the group”for years” to avoid causing further damage to its members and its former label. He added that he had no intention of returning to BIGBANG because he didn’t want his “mistakes of the past” to influence them again.
Now I have to go it alone and I think I have to put up with the criticism that comes with it. If I were to return to the team I caused harm to, I would drag the stigma of my past mistakes onto the members and be unable to address them. The suffering inside me is so great that for a long time I have been saying that I want to leave.

Speaking about his harsh reaction to fans who tried to associate him with BIGBANG on social media after his departure, TOP said that the expectations of a reunion were too painful for him to bear. “I wanted to leave things clear, but I had no way to express it,” he added.
When I see messages from fans wanting a reunion and look at photos of members, it’s like looking at family photos after being the one who left. No one who is not directly involved can understand the pain and suffering. That said, choosing that path was reckless. But that wasn’t my intention.

When asked if his former members had tried to stop him from leaving, TOP responded cautiously, saying he didn’t want to talk about the people behind their backs. He admitted that he had not been in contact with all of them due to the guilt in his heart.
